One two-month journey through Australia was terminated following the fatal incident of an older woman who was stranded by the vessel on a remote coastal location.

Suzanne Rees had been hiking on the remote island with fellow passengers from the cruise ship, but broke off from the excursion for a rest. The liner left without her and came back several hours later after the crew realised the passenger was not present.

A major rescue mission discovered her person the next day.

Investigative bodies are looking into the tragedy, together with law enforcement and the state coroner.

The CEO of the cruise operator stated that travelers and staff on the Coral Adventurer were notified that the remainder of the journey had been terminated due to the "tragic passing and earlier engine troubles".

In a statement, he mentioned that passengers would be given a full refund, and said the operator was working "to coordinate the travel back of the travelers via chartered flights".

Officials also released an revised announcement, and said they had "delivered a directive to the Master" prohibiting any further travelers from entering the liner.
