This January transfer market is always a time of feverish rumour and potential major moves. A number of notable stars are being connected to transfers out of their present teams. We examine a selection of the major names that are poised to be on the move in January.

A. Semenyo

Despite the Black Stars' failure to reach the Africa Cup of Nations, which has kept the player in contention, reports suggest a major transfer is imminent. The 25-year-old has a contract featuring a substantial release clause applicable for a two-week period at the start of the month. Latest reports indicate the Premier League champions look to have won the race for his signature. Former interested parties such as Tottenham and Chelsea are said to have turned their attention to other targets, potentially opening the door for clubs such as Manchester United or Liverpool to make a late move.

Marc Guéhi

The England defender has excel for Crystal Palace this season a summer move to Anfield falling through. Marc-André ter Stegen

This veteran German shot-stopper finds himself as third-choice at Barça under the manager Hansi Flick. Having lost his place and undergone an operation, a winter departure looks increasingly probable. Villa were once linked as a possible destination, but that option now appears off. Instead, clubs from Turkey and Saudi Arabia are reportedly expressing interest in the 33-year-old.

I. Toney

The prolific England striker has continued finding the net regularly in Saudi Arabia. A return to the Premier League might boost his dwindling hopes of making the national World Cup. Kees Smit

The highly-touted Dutch teenage midfielder has earned parallels to a Belgian superstar for his style of play. Following impressing at the Under-19 European Championship, he has become a regular in the AZ Alkmaar first team. The teenager is widely expected to make a big-money transfer in January. Newcastle United are believed to be leading the chase, but are facing strong competition from Real Madrid for a signing valued at approximately £22 million.
